We create video productions for my customers for my business and sometimes need background music for youtube videos. Almost all of these videos use background music. In our work it is well known what the fines are for using music without licensing in our products. What many people may not realize is that copyright holders make huge amounts of money suing violators. So they are continuously searching for violators. It was not long ago that a filmmaker filmed Tony Romo's wedding and used a Coldplay song without permission. Rumor has it that he got fined a huge dollar amount. I think they ended up settling out of court, if I remember correctly. It was enough to convince me to buy licensed music tracks for my work every time. It really is not too much either. I bought a pack of 100 tracks for less than thirty dollars recently.
