MADD was launched in 1980 by Cindy Lightner, following the loss of the woman 13 year old child who was simply killed with a drunk driver out of bail for the hit and run accident just 2 days earlier in the day. Lightner and other mothers who'd lost kiddies to drunk drivers formed MADD in an effort to quit the greater than 30,000 alcohol associated driving deaths each year. They worked, not just to teach the general public about the risks of dui, nonetheless to improve societal attitudes about drinking and driving. Take a taxi or a Limo as an alternative.
