SADD's approach to the situation would be to develop peer-to-peer academic programs in college chapters which range from middle schools to universities. In 1997, SADD expanded its mission to include underage drinking, substance abuse, reduced driving, violence, and committing suicide. SADD's programs are keyed toward needs of individual college locations. These include peer-led classes, discussion boards, workshops, seminars & rallies, and other awareness-raising activities. Over its first decade, SADD did with numerous federal & state agencies, nonprofit teams & foundations to have its message across. By 1990, due in part towards the work of SADD, the amount of teenagers killed in liquor related accidents fell to two,000 each year. They advocate taking a Limo Service, having a designated driver, taking a taxi or calling a buddy Each MADD and SADD have been influential in minimizing the quantity of alcohol related deaths in the United States.
