MADD was launched in 1980 by Cindy Lightner, following loss of the woman 13 year old child who was simply killed with a drunk motorist out of bail for hit & run accident just two times earlier. Lightner along with other mothers who'd lost children to drunk drivers formed MADD in an effort to stop the greater amount of than 30,000 alcohol related driving deaths annually. They worked, not only to educate the general public towards hazards of dui, however to improve societal attitudes about ingesting & driving. Take a taxi or a Limo as an alternative.
